5K RUN FOR MERCY
In support of the Harrington Family

Check-in begins at 9:00AM, 5K begins at 10:00AM
Please join us as we celebrate the incredible life of Nathan Harrington, an inspirational veteran, husband, father, son and Vanguard alumnus. Runners and walkers of all levels welcome. Enjoy a fun walk, jog or simply join the event to support the Harrington family!
Nathanael Harrington’s ’15 story is certainly not what he had originally planned. Nathan began his Vanguard experience as a freshman in the fall of 1998. He continued his studies until the spring of 2001. Following September 11th, he felt a call to serve in the military – just has his father had modeled for 20 years. He began serving as a Chaplain Assistant in the Army, but again his life took an unexpected turn. After only two years of service, Nathanael was diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease, an incurable disease that causes breakdown of the nerves cells in the brain. He received an honorable discharge due to the diagnosis. In the midst of this painful season, he met his beautiful wife, and three boys who were 5, 4, and 2. They moved back to the Pacific Northwest, and welcomed a beautiful daughter.
In 2013, Nathan felt God was calling him back to Vanguard University to finish his degree. He and his family moved to Costa Mesa for 2 years while finishing his Bachelor's degree in Religion, with an emphasis in Pastoral Leadership. At the completion of his degree, Nathan and his family moved back to his home town of Clarkston, WA. His kids are now 15, 14, 12, and 8 and God continues to bless them in unexpected ways.
Join with alumni, friends, community members, and family as we support the Harrington family and celebrate Nathan.
